Come home to your true self, come home to Yoga Nidra - a jewel that's waiting for you. Inspired by Vanda Scaravelli, who practised with Iyengar for many years, these classes are a gentle, yet demanding, form of hatha yoga. Working with the breath, the pull of gravity on the body, and the resulting unravelling and release of the spine, this approach can be very helpful for those working with chronic, but not acute, spinal or postural issues.

Classes vary from week to week, and are typically alignment based and subtle, giving us time to examine the postures, and our approach to them, in depth. Great emphasis is placed on recognising that each person is an individual, and adapting the yoga to reflect that.

Working this way provides a welcome counterpoint to those working with a more dynamic practice, and is a nourishing and sustaining practice in its own right. Suitable for all levels of experience. Specialist class to allow you to nurture yourself while you are with your baby. This class will help bring a sense of well-being, alleviate aches and pains, combat fatigue and retone muscles.

Classes can be attended 6 weeks after giving birth. A softer and more meditative practice, dedicated to remedial and gentle yoga practice. Yoga Nidra translates as Yogic Sleep. It is state of physical and mental relaxation, between wakefulness and deep sleep and the objective is to cultivate that state, without falling asleep.

It is used as a relaxation practice, also a form of meditation, treatment for stress and anxiety and purification of the negative habits of mind. It is generally practised lying in savasana, but can be done sitting, or semi-reclining. This can help one remain conscious and aware if there is a tendency to fall asleep.

This form of yoga nidra was devised by Swami Satyananda from an ancient tantric practice and includes eight verbally guided stages. The eight stages are: A balanced gentle flow class with breathing exercises and some visualisation. This specialist yoga class is to assist your body in cultivating strength, flexibility and breath awareness, adapting to the many changes that pregnancy brings about, to focus on your baby, and to prepare you mentally, physically and emotionally for labour birth and afterwards.

A powerful and dynamic style of yoga developed by Sri K Pattabhi Jois, in which set series of postures The Primary Series are linked dynamically to the breath in a flow of movement increasing strength and flexibility. When the set sequence of postures becomes familiar, the mind relaxes and the practice can become deep and meditative, yet still dynamic. This class is suitable for intermediate students and beginner students who have been taught the Astanga series.

This is not suitable for complete beginners or those that have never practiced Astanga. Come ready to leap, come ready to fly. The perfect complement to the more dynamic, 'yang' practice of vinyasa. Yin relates to the connective tissues and energetic pathways of the body. Expect space, quiet and long holds around 3 minutes that allow the postures to deeply settle into the many layers of you. The class will close with a Yoga Nidra Sleep Meditation.

Our Yoga for Teen classes are bespoke yoga classes just right for those important transition years. Since ancient times, yoga has offered techniques to support growing bodies, restless minds and stressful lives. Yoga practice supports the growing self-awareness that is integral to discovering who you really are, what you really want and love, empowers you to go for it, and reconnects you with an inner place of calm.

Our Yoga for Teen class is open to those between years old in full-time education. Please note that parents must sign a waiver release on the first visit in order for teens to attend the class. This class is open to all levels from beginners with no previous experience of Astanga yoga, through to Intermediates and Advanced. Mat work classes aimed at conditioning and strengthening the body, while maintaining and restoring correct postural alignment, with a focus on developing strength in the abdomen and lower back.

This class is level 1 for beginners. The beauty of a silent Yin yoga sequence followed by the resonance of the gongs. Yin yoga is a lovely form to practice together in silence. You will be led through the postures and assisted when necessary. The quietening of body and mind in the silent practice paths our way into a deep and potent experience of self as awareness is honed.

Please do not book via the website. The body and the mind are inseparably interrelated. Each governs and affect each other, and each is accessible through each other. The circuitry in the brain allows for infinite possibilities of thoughts, and the manifestations of consciousness are endless.

Given the rhythm and speed of today's life, we certainly can't access this information without an efficient system to organise the process. Among many systems, the chakras, an ancient archetypal structure of consciousness, are finally gaining prominence in the collective mindset nowadays. The chakras are inextricably linked with the science and practice of yoga.

The word yoga means "yoke", and it is a system of philosophy and practice designed to yoke the mortal self to its divine nature of pure consciousness. The chakras serve as a means to understand and affect this integration. The workshop will begin with an intro on the chakra system, leading into a physical practice of asanas that will create a state of balance and receptivity in the energetic body.

It will then flow into a chakra meditation that will provide a profound overall sense of balance and grounded-ness. The dynamic and fluid practices will heat the body and build strength, endurance and flexibility. The quiet, restorative postures will help relax the muscles, tissues, organs and nervous system Open to all levels.

Explore a variety of focused, mindful and transcendence meditation practices inspired by Buddhist, Tantric and Yogic techniques. More often than not we can feel tired and overwhelmed with the stresses of daily life. This class is specifically designed to revitalise your spirit and restore balance to your body and mind.

The class will start with a gentle yoga practice, followed by a guided deep relaxation - combined with positive creative suggestions to leave you calm, relaxed and strong. A safe and grounding yoga practice for any stage of treatment and recovery. Small classes for those affected by any type of cancer at any stage of recovery or caring for a family member or friend.

You will receive personal attention and plenty of safe, gentle instruction Whether you were treated for cancer a long time ago or are currently in treatment, this yoga class will focus on making you feel more grounded and comfortable in your changing or changed body. We also welcome family members or carers to join the class. The Benefits of this Class Include: Decreased anxiety and stress.

Increased well being, strength and range of motion. Improved quality and quantity of sleep. Focus on lymphatic flow. Being with others who have had a similar experience. Pre-Requisites The class includes postures that safely stretch, strengthen and relax the body. Group classes are appropriate for you if: Iyengar is firmly based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga as expounded by Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras, emphasizing the development of strength, stamina, flexibility and balance, as well as concentration Dharana and meditation Dhyana.

Iyengar Yoga, a form of Hatha Yoga, focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas. Through the practice of a system of asanas, it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well being. This class will finish with Pranayama breath work to settle the mind, followed by a seated meditation.

This may be in silence or guided by the teacher but will be suitable for all levels. Phillipa's teaching style centres on the flow and grace of the breath linking the poses, with an emphasis on alignment. She feels a yoga practice should be made to 'fit your body, rather than your body fit the practice'. Available to purchase up to two weeks after the completion of your course.

Our yoga and mindfulness classes share the magic of yoga in a non competitive environment. In creative and fun ways we will explore yoga poses, breath awareness practices, self compassion, mindfulness and relaxation. Restorative poses are practised in a passive state with various props so the body can feel supported, rested and nurtured. Specific poses offered at each class will focus on a different theme, however, all the systems of the body benefit from this deep relaxation.

Some of the measurable results of relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure and the improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, and the reduction of muscle tension and general fatigue. After preparing the physical body through relaxation, participants are then guided through Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation, and can be a deep form of relaxation.

Generally practised in Savasana, it can also be done semi-reclining or sitting. In these classes we will create a safe and non competitive environment where we will offer techniques and tools for children in their early teens to support themselves and manage daily stress and connect with their true self. These classes aim to boost self-confidence and concentration, strengthen physical abilities and social skills and elevate creativity and imagination.

This will be achieved by using fun and creative ways to explore yoga poses, practice breath awareness and self-compassion, and learning to connect and de-stress through mindfulness and relaxation while respecting the individuality of every participant. Suitable for children aged 9 years and over. With the mind in its busy everyday mode, we are often not able to see things with the necessary perspective.

We can easily feel stressed, pulled into the future and past, and struggling to be truly present as our life happens. Meditation brings together mindful attention with a willingness to be quiet and tune in. We give ourselves time to explore what we actually feel, rather than trying to create what we think our life should be like.

The more honestly we know ourselves, the more we are able to be in control of our moods and emotions. All are welcome, no previous experience necessary. An invitation to open up and refresh with simple but effective yoga postures combined with breathing practices.

This mindful practice is self-nurturing, allowing space and time to deeply restore and heal from daily stress of physical, mental and emotional. Suitable for any age and experience, especially those recovering from illness or injury. Follow us on. Account Sign In Not a member yet? Islington Notting Hill Manchester.
